During the month of June we erected tipis for campers to rent along the water’s edge at our campground. We discovered putting up tipis is no small feat! Fortunately for Abner and I we met Dan Huff of White Buffalo Lodges (makers of authentic Native American tipis in traditional Indian designs) at our Lake Havasu swap meet this past winter.
When he gave us his business card we discovered that his expertise was in authentic tipis. It just so happened that Abner had stored in his shed 2 Cheyenne / Sioux Tipis. We just didn’t have the knowledge of how to put them up. We gave it a good try last year but not to be.
Wagonhammer Guests Get Involved in the Action
During our conversation with Dan we discovered he hailed from Livingston Montana and had passed by Wagonhammer Campground on his travels through Idaho. We didn’t hesitate to set up a date with him on his next travels through North Fork. Dan arrived and knew exactly what he was doing. He made the tipi raising a fun happening event for our guests. Thanks so much Dan!!
Erecting a tepee – process of balance
We offer our Tipis for an evening stay for up to 2 people with you supplying your own sleeping bags at a rate of $15 plus tax per night.
Recently we welcomed Susanne from Switzerland to Wagonhammer Campground. While in Idaho and traveling our beautiful scenic byways, she couldn’t resist stopping in for a night’s stay when she saw tipis standing proudly under tall shade trees.
Susanne woke up with a smile, loving her night in a tipi!
She just had a ball and loved the discovering and spending the night in a tipi at Wagonhammer Campground in North Fork Idaho and here are her thoughts….
“A wonderful place with an easy silence surrounding. You sit there on the water next to the tipis and hear the voices from the nature and the wind and the animals. If you look for deer, you can see them in front of your sleeping place. ‘Stunning and out of the rush of the Day’!!!! This place is one of the nicest grounds on earth! Clean, Friendly, and with a Great History”
