It is our goal to make everyone’s stay at our North Fork Idaho RV Park a fulfillment of their dream getaway. We are surrounded with rich history and natural beauty. We always try to familiarize our guests with the treasures of our Salmon Valley but there are times when folks just want to be by the Salmon River bank and reflect the therapy of the natural surroundings.
One of our guests who camped with us for a full month really did not communicate so we were not sure if he was enjoying his stay but did seem to enjoy his solitude. On his departure, to our amazement he presented Abner and me with “A Magnificent Valley: A Magnificent God.” This very nicely framed poem has graced our fireplace in our RV Park lodge for all our campers and guests to enjoy.
As I sit this summer afternoon surveying the valley,
small white clouds float lazily across a brilliant blue sky,
harbingers, perhaps, of an impending thunder storm,
promising refreshing breezes down mountains towering with trees,
evidencing a magnificent God at work in a life-teeming valley:
brilliantly colored birds flitting about,
diving like bombardiers on those threatening fledglings,
carried aloft on rising winds,
sitting majestically on nests,
holding snowcapped heads ahead,
singing melodies heralding a new day,
feeding on insects flying long before we took to the skies:
mosquitoes buzzing warnings of an impending attack,
helicopter-like dragon flies reminding us of God’s handiwork,
flies busily cleansing the invigorating air,
beetles fiddling melodies along their stick-like legs,
ants busily harvesting food for their minions;
plants dressed in dazzling blossoms:
brilliant purple trumpets heralding God’s riches,
paint brushes tracing reddish orange across landscape,
lavender bells ringing our God’s glory for all to hear,
bushes decked out in white winding along the valley floor;
fish swimming tributaries meandering among islets:
rainbows cutting smart figures through waters coursing the valley,
bull trout muscling through streams to swallow tasty morsels,
cutthroats swimming lazily in restful pools,
brown trout crisscrossing waters sparkling diamonds in sun,
pike minnows waving tails at us peering down in water;
streams slaking thirst of wild game along shores:
white tailed deer tiptoeing through water to feast on lush grasses,
spotted fawns and antlered bucks accompanying them,
elk trumpeting majestically on mountain ridges or streaming into valley below,
foraging on green plants springing from rich loam along valley floors,
big horn sheep butting heads and cascading rocks down mountainsides;
and last but not least, fellow visitors pausing along journey’s crisscrossing our continent,
sharing tales of travels along with warm cheer.
Wow! To peer into such a stunning mirror of yet another universe, filled by God of unparalleled life, love, and majesty: ” I have come that they may have life and have it to the full” _ John 10:10
The musings of an anonymous visitor presented to Shirley and Abner in appreciation for this spectacular setting. What a wonderful gift which we will always treasure as a Wagonhammer Reflection !!!!!!!!
